pre-show clips and trailers for our Interview with ‘The Ritual’ Director David Bruckner

The first time I noticed David Bruckner’s work was two years ago when I first saw the Anthology Film “SOUTHBOUND” I liked his segment so much I even left a note on twitter about the film:

This was actually one of my first tweets, my very first was in June 2016.

Now, some 25k tweets later, we will finally have the opportunity to talk with Director David Bruckner.

When I saw David’s ‘Southbound’ segment, ‘The Accident’ I was so blown away by the simple story line and the darkness of the segment that I looked up the film and took note to keep an eye out for more goodness from this cat Bruckner. His segment in the film is probably one of my favorite, if not all-time favorite modern Anthology segments. The story is genius, pure Horror that doesn’t take time to fuck around. ‘The Accident’ does have some humor in it, but what goes down in the segment is super fucked up and left me with a wee bit of a bad vibe. When I finish watching something and it leaves me with a bad vibe afterward, that is basically my internal version of an Academy Award for well-made ‘effective’ horror. I have watched this segment a few times and still think it’s one of the best modern bits of Horror I have ever seen.

I don’t tweet or write much on new films, since for every new horror movie released, there are about a 100 older horror movies that warrant attention first. But when I see a horror film that looks like it was made by folks who care more about the effectiveness of the film than impressing their investors, I jump for joy. Not that making lots of money from investment in the film is a bad thing, it’s just a terrible motive to have as your driving force in a creative endeavor.

Our podcast has covered a couple newer films, and one of them so happened to be what I consider one of the very best Horror Movies of the last couple years David Bruckner’s ‘The Ritual’.

As far as modern horror goes, with our podcast, we have had shows on ‘The Ritual’ along with ‘A Dark Song’, ‘Kill List’ and most recently ‘Hereditary’ was discussed in a soon to be released podcast. We also did an interview with the directing team of Benson and Moorhead, they directed another great recent horror film (more sci-fi than horror, but it has it’s moments) ‘The Endless’ That podcast will also be up soon.

We are honored that David has accepted our show invite, and we look forward to talking with him along with Dani from the Freaky Fandoms podcast who was part of the recent folk horror show we did that included the ‘The Ritual’.

Here’s that show from April of this year. The new show, which will include the Bruckner interview will be up soon.

below that you will find trailers and movie info for the upcoming show.

From April 23rd
